Social Commerce: Who is selling now?

Some people call it s-Commerce and some f-commerce but the basics remain the same. How to sell to the e-connected netizens who are spending significant amount of time on the social websites and driven by the recommendations from friends and connections?

Based on the survey of the brands that are selling on facebook, it is observed that fan merchandise in music, sports, and entertainment are the early winning propositions that ride on the wave of impulse buying, social recommendations and word of mouth products

Several of Indian brands that has started participating for capitalizing on the social commerce opportunities. The list goes below:

With over 59000+ fans online www.snapdeal.com features in top 20 websites in India. Snapdeal has created the master page that provides map based selection of respective city based deal that a user can click on and find the deals available in their own city.

Futurebazaar.com Facebook page

A newly launched online deal website that offers top brands at discounted rate has the page on facebook that user can visit and click to go to the store to buy the item. The f-commerce page has over 100,000 fans.

The premium fashion and luxury brand retailer in India – Shoppers Stop is maintaining very silent position on capitalizing on the social commerce marketing.

The review and research that I carried in search of finding the state of social commerce adoption by Indian businesses, I observed that the new retailers are trying to ride on creating the business success through the social networking wave.

I am sure no retailer would like to loose the opportunity out of the ripple effect of social media and gradually pickup for tapping the opportunity. Only advise that I would like to give to all those who are missing the wave – “der na ho jaaye kahin der na ho jaaye” Wake up so you don’t miss the opportunity.
